Construction of the Fillmore Center’s Plaza provided the opportunity to offer the surrounding community an enriched, public space. Originally an ill conceived result of 60’s redevelopment it offered no benefit to its project tenants or public. Now the center of the recently designated Fillmore Historic Preservation Jazz District, the plaza provides a venue for concerts, lectures, celebrations and an expanded Saturday Farmers Market, making it a focal point where the community can come together.
